Pressure Remains On Tillakaratne The Board of Control for Cricket in Sri Lanka has decided to continue with its policy of two different captains for its forthcoming series against England.
Veteran batsman Hashan Tillakaratne will lead the Lankans in the Test series, while Marvan Atapattu will skipper the one-day side. Former Australian opener Joh Dyson, who is the team's new coach, has reportedly approved the arrangement.
The pair have made a mixed start to their respective captaincy careers. Tillakaratne led Sri Lanka to a Test series loss to the West Indies and a drawn series against New Zealand.
Atapattu was in charge for the one-day team's series win over the Windies and its disappointing performance in the Bank Alfalah Cup, which involved Pakistan and New Zealand.
Chairman of selectors Lalith Kaluperuma indicated to CricInfo that the jury was still out on Tillakaratne.
"Hashan has had only four Tests as captain and he has not performed all that badly," said Kaluperuma.
"We will give him another opportunity against England before reviewing the situation and deciding whether we should continue with two captains."
