Opener Unbeaten On 123 Pakistan were firmly in the driving seat as they reached 237/2 when stumps were called for the end of play on the second day of the second Test against South Africa in Lahore.
Pakistan were only 41 runs behind the South African first innings score of 278 when stumps were called. Paul Adams was able to pick up the prize wicket of Taufeeq Umar with his score on 68, after he pulled a short ball straight to Herschelle Gibbs at a squares gully. Yasir Hameed made 21 before he was also caught by Gibbs.
Inzamam-ul-Haq, after returning to the Pakistan side, was at the crease with Farhat on 16. The Pakistani's look set to bat the majority of the third day, and will be aiming to beat the visitors comfortably, given the current state of the game.
The South African bowlers bowled extremely tightly in the first ten or so overs, but the two young Pakistani openers just soaked it up and scored their third 100 run partnership in as many innings.
The Pakistani's are going to be looking to score in excess of 400 runs, and there will sure be plenty of time for the Pakistani pacemen and spinners to get their teeth into the South African top order by the beginning of play on day four.
